Course Overview

With a strong emphasis on the principles of sustainable project management throughout, the course provides students with an advanced business education whilst contextualising this learning in the field of events management.

The event industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world, playing a fundamental part in economic development locally, nationally and internationally. It is now worth £42.3 billion in the UK alone and offers diverse and exciting career opportunities around the world. This innovative International Events Management course will be delivered in partnership with the CMR and ICCW, offering a unique opportunity for students to experience the events industry from a range of perspectives throughout their studies. This is a ‘first of its kind’ programme in the UK and has inherent local, national and international appeal.

Teaching

The modules are normally studied in blocks of three each term to enable students to develop the depth of analysis and understanding.  Alongside your class time you will also engage in industry experience and field trips with our industry partners.  For example, for the Work-based learning in Event Operations 1 and Work-based learning in Event Operations 2 modules you will spend approximately 50 hours/module  undertaking work-based learning which may require some unsocial hours and may be undertaken in 8 hour shifts across a number of weeks.

The Business School and wider Faculty provides a range of guest lectures by people working in the industry who will provide you with insight into today's events environment and business strategy and careers opportunities, that students would be encouraged to attend.
