Programme Type: Undergraduate
Course Overview
Collaborate with a range of UK event companies – so you’re ready to impact the way events are produced and managed in the future.
The course starts with a foundation year 0, specifically designed to introduce and develop essential skills for success in higher education, including critical thinking and research skills, and the knowledge and understanding of key facets of business, hospitality and events management.
Key features
- The foundation year is an integral part of the extended degree and you will benefit from experienced University lecturers. Whilst completion of the foundation year will not lead to a separate award or qualification in its own right, you will be able to confidently progress to programmes within our suite of courses in Plymouth Business School.
- Our course promotes awareness of the value and importance of the centrality of participants and clients, enabling students to meet and respond to their specific needs and expectations, appreciating international cultural nuances and the associated impacts on event design and delivery.
- Our course content has been developed with industry partners to ensure you have the best opportunities in the events industry. You will gain an understanding of the complex, diverse and integrated concepts and defining characteristics of events as an area of academic and applied study.
- Plan and deliver real, live events including conferences, high-end banqueting, exhibitions and trade fairs. Learn collaboration skills by working with your course mates on the delivery of all staged events.
- Create a portfolio of professional materials and presentations. Assessments are linked to real clients throughout the course, and you’ll have the chance to develop professional materials and presentations to explain your ideas. In previous years, clients have used winning ideas in their business operations.
- Expand your horizons with our international and national fieldwork trips. Build confidence, understand different cultures and get to grips with industry standards. In the past our students have visited event venues in Prague, attended a bespoke training session at Disneyland Paris and explored Amsterdam at night through a series of free events across the city.
