Course Overview

Building on foundations of social, developmental, health, and cognitive psychology, you will be eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the British Psychological Society. Specialist training and clinical skills provided in your masters year will then provide you with the experience and knowledge you need to fast-track your future career in clinical practice.

  • Receive funding for your master's year with a student loan.
  • Build a thorough knowledge of psychology through the first three years of our BSc course, and extend it with an additional year of masters-level study. This will provide the specialist training for professional clinical practice, interventions, and clinical skills that will prepare you for clinical professions.
  • Practical insight into NHS service delivery in clinical practice an optional placement year.
  • Hands-on learning in our psychology experiential learning lab. We embedded practical activities throughout the course, so you can put new knowledge into practice and build practical skills for future careers.

120 - 128

A Level: 120–128 points from a minimum of three A levels from any subjects (excluding General Studies).  

BTEC 18 Unit National Diploma/QCF Extended Diploma: DDM – any subject.

International Baccalaureate: 30 points overall.
English – Advanced 4+ (A1) or 5 (A2/B); Standard 5+ (A1) or 6 (A2/B). Maths – Standard 4.

Access courses: Pass Access to HE Science/Combined Science/Humanities/Social Sciences course with 60 credits overall, to include 45 credits at Level 3, of which 30 credits must be at distinction and 15 credits at merit or higher.

GCSE
5 GCSE subjects at a pass are preferred and this does not necessarily need to be Mathematics and English subjects.

English Language Requirements:

The following Secure English Language tests (SELTs) are Home Office (UKVI) approved and accepted by the University of Plymouth and the University of Plymouth International College (UPIC). The scores required have been increased from the UKVI minimum specified scores to meet University requirements.

  • IELTS (Academic)
  • Trinity College London ISE (only a SELT if taken in the UK)
  • LanguageCert International ESOL 
  • Pearson PTE Academic

A SELT must be taken at an approved UKVI center.

The other tests and qualifications listed here have been deemed acceptable by the University of Plymouth and UPIC to meet our entry requirements and UKVI requirements for study at RQF 6 and above. 

Please note that these tests and qualifications are not SELTs.

When studying on a pre-sessional course or course below RQF 6, a SELT is a mandatory requirement set by UKVI. 

If studying at RQF 6 level and above, the University is permitted to accept other qualifications that we deem meet UKVI and our requirements.
