Course Overview

The programme is structured in a way that ensures that students acquire high-quality theoretical and practical skills in the three main domains of Musculoskeletal, Neurological, and Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy as well as rehabilitation of other special population groups (burn injury rehabilitation, amputee rehabilitation etc.)

Learning Outcomes

 

  1. Implement a variety of treatment approaches in order to improve human function and movement.
  2. Distinguish pathology from dysfunction of the various biological systems of the human body and apply this knowledge in order to successfully treat patients.
  3. Safely practice the Physiotherapy profession having a good understanding of indications and contraindication when applying any given treatment technique, physical modality or therapeutic exercise.
  4. Implement a comprehensive subjective examination of the patient and record all relevant subjective findings in a structured way.
  5. Plane treatment strategies based on subjective findings and make use of up to date evidence in the process of decision making.
  6. Demonstrate professionalism while acknowledging all ethical codes and principals that follow the physiotherapy profession in terms of respecting patients’ confidentiality, privacy, and anonymity.
  7. Critically appraise and analyse current best evidence and apply it for the treatment of patients.
  8. Show professional behaviour and interpersonal skills with patients and other health professionals.
  9. Gain an understanding of research methodology by participating in research projects.

Entry Requirement 

Graduation Requirements:

The student must complete 240 ECTS and all programme requirements.

A minimum cumulative grade point average (CPA) of 2.0 is required. Thus, although a ‘D-‘ is a PASS grade, in order to achieve a CPA of 2.0 an average grade of ‘C’ is required.

In addition, students must successfully complete 3 clinical placements that take place during the 5th, 6th and 7th semester and include 5 hours of clinical training twice a week for a total of 150 hours. Furthermore, students must complete the final clinical placement practice that takes place during the 8th semester and includes 40 hours per week of clinical practice spread over 26 weeks for a total of 1040 hours.
