Curriculum

Undergraduate electrical engineering students at CU Denver are exposed to the breadth of the field through a curriculum that is aligned with industry needs. Throughout the entire course of study, students' understanding of theory will be reinforced through laboratory experiences and design projects. In lecture courses, design procedures will be enhanced through the use of computer-aided design and simulation programs.  

To complete the bachelor of science in electrical engineering, students must complete 128 credit hours, including:

  • 24 credit hours of CU Denver core curriculum coursework
  • 30 credit hours of required math and basic science
  • 74 credit hours of electrical engineering courses

Entry Requirement 

Academic Requirements:

Students who, at the time of application, have completed 24 or more credits at regionally accredited postsecondary institutions will be evaluated using transfer admission criteria.  

Direct admission to a bachelor of science* major 

  • Minimum 3.0 overall GPA with a grade of B- or better in Calculus I OR
  • Minimum 2.75 overall GPA AND a minimum 2.5 GPA (based on most recent course attempts) in Calculus I, Calculus II, and Calculus-based Physics I with the corresponding lab, with a grade of C- or better in each course. 

NOTE: For admission into the computer science major, calculus-based Physics I is not required, but will be accepted.  
*Please see below for bachelor of science in construction management criteria.

Direct admission to the bachelor of arts in computer science major or the bachelor of science in the construction management major 

  • Minimum 2.5 overall GPA
  • Completion of at least one of the following courses with a grade of C or better: College Algebra, College Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, or Calculus II  

Admission to pre-engineering

Students who do not meet the criteria for direct admission to a major will be considered for admission to pre-engineering with major interest.

  • Minimum 2.5 overall GPA
  • Completion of at least one of the following courses with a grade of C or better: College Algebra, College Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, or Calculus II
