Course Overview
The programme focuses on the key elements of corporate finance, investment management, and applied quantitative finance.
The Master’s Finance and Investment places an emphasis on specialist areas within finance including undertaking financial investments, financial modelling, mathematical finance and financial management roles within mainstream financial firms. There will be a particular focus on providing students with the conceptual understanding, knowledge and technical skills that are required to implement advanced financial models in a practical way.
The Master’s programme in Finance and Investment is built on a foundation of general Finance and Financial Management, Econometrics and Investment modules.
The Master’s in Finance and Investment is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills in finance and investment subjects to enhance their operational effectiveness in this particular area, or to serve as preparation for further study or an academic career.
Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
Candidates for the MSc in Finance and Investment will normally have a first degree or its equivalent in accounting and finance, economics, management (with a significant component of economics and/or accounting and finance) or a quantitative science such as mathematics, physics, or engineering from an approved higher education institution.
The usual entry requirement is: a UK 2:2 degree or its equivalent in any discipline from an approved higher education institution. Equivalent professional qualifications will also be eligible if supported with appropriate practical experience.
Applications are welcome from students with non-standard qualifications or mature students (those over 21 years of age on entry) with significant relevant experience.
English Language Requirements:
If we need evidence of your proficiency in English, you will be required to achieve the following minimum scores in one of these recognised tests:
IELTS: 5.5 overall, with no sub-test below 5.0, and successful completion of an additional six week English pre-sessional course taught by the University of Bradford, which must be completed prior to the start of the course; or
IELTS: 6.0 overall, with no sub-test less than 5.5; or
Internet-based TOEFL: 80 overall, with minimum scores of Listening 17, Reading 18, Speaking 20, Writing 17); or
PTE-A (Pearson Test of English-Academic): 55 overall, with no sub-test less than 51.
Candidates who are not citizens of the European Union will also be subject to further requirements imposed by the government for the issue of a student visa. Please check the UK Home Office website for the most up-to-date information, as these requirements are subject to change.
Exceptionally, holders of a UK degree awarded within 2 years prior to entry to the Bradford programme may be exempt from these English test requirements.
