Programme Type:

Course Overview

Our planet is facing threats from various quarters, including direct pollution of the environment, the air we breathe, the water we drink, energy resources, and land cultivation.

The programme also involves water and air pollution control, recycling, waste disposal, and public health issues. Graduates from this programme conduct hazardous-waste management studies to evaluate the significance of such hazards, advise on treatment and containment, and develop regulations to prevent mishaps.

The outstanding curriculum at UniKL provides students with a comprehensive academic foundation that combines coursework with hands-on experience in the basic sciences and the fundamentals of chemical engineering, as well as opportunities to study in specialized areas such as environmental engineering. Exceptional educational and industrial training facilities on campus include bioreactor, Freeze Dyer, Tangential Flow Filtration, Gel Electrophoresis Unit & Imaging System, and Rotary Evaporator.

Learning Outcomes

Majors in chemical engineering will be able to:

  • PLO 1
Knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering technology fundamentals, and an engineering specialisation to defined and applied engineering procedures, processes, systems, or methodologies in chemical and environment engineering technology.
  • PLO 2
Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyse broadly-defined chemical and process/food/ polymer/bioprocess/environment engineering technology problems reaching substantiated conclusions using analytical tools appropriate to their discipline or area of specialisation.
  • PLO 3
Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for broadly-defined chemical and process/food/polymer/ bioprocess/environment engineering technology problems and contribute to the design of systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • PLO 4
Investigation: Conduct investigations of broadly-defined problems; locate, search and select relevant data from codes, databases, and literature, design and conduct experiments to provide valid conclusions.
