Course Overview
This course goes beyond the limits of traditional economics and business-related courses by combining a thorough understanding in economic theory, relevant applications, and business knowledge. You will be introduced to a set of economic concepts, frameworks, and techniques (both numerical and non-numerical). These will provide a basis for understanding the economics that governs decision-making, management and organisational behaviour within public, private and third sector organizations.
You will develop a detailed understanding of the global economy and Northern Ireland’s place within it. The course is focused on practical and applied skills in economics and business that are in high demand by the current marketplace. The real-world focus of the course will prepare you for a career in the business world or onto postgraduate business courses.
The specific nature of this degree aligns closely with guidance from the Government Economic Service (GES), Advance HE formely The Higher Education Academy (HEA) and industry experts, in order to produce graduates who can focus on the economic challenges faced by businesses today.

Academic Requirements:
A level
A-level grades BCC if including A-Level Mathematics or
BBC if not completing A-level Mathematics.
Applied General Qualifications
Overall BTEC Level 3 QCF Extended Diploma with profile DDD in a relevant subject
OR
BTEC Level 3 RFQ National Extended Diploma with profile DMM in a relevant subject
You may also meet the course entry requirements with combinations of different qualifications to the same standard (provided subject requirements are met). Examples of combinations include:
Levels with BTEC Level 3 QCF Subsidiary Diploma or BTEC RFQ National Extended Certificate.
A level with BTEC Level 3 QCF Diploma or BTEC Level 3 RFQ National Diploma.

Irish Leaving Certificate
112 UCAS tariff points to include a minimum of four subjects at a higher level and one subject at the Ordinary level. The overall profile must include English at minimum H6 at Higher Level or Grade O4 at Ordinary level plus Maths at H5 at a Higher level or O3 at Ordinary Level.
OR
104 UCAS tariff points to include a minimum of four subjects at a higher level and one subject at the Ordinary level. The overall profile must include English at minimum Grade H6 at Higher Level or Grade O4 at Ordinary Level. One Higher Level subject must include a minimum Grade H4 from Higher Maths.
Scottish Highers
The Scottish Highers requirement for this course is BCCCC to include a minimum of grade B in Mathematics or grades BBCCC.
Scottish Advanced Highers
The Scottish Advanced Highers requirement for this course is CDD to include a minimum grade C in Advanced Mathematics or grades CCD.
International Baccalaureate
Overall International Baccalaureate profiles minimum 25 points (12 points at a higher level).
Access to Higher Education (HE)
Overall Access profile 63% to include 60% in NICATs Maths or GCSE Maths grade B/C* or 6/5.
GCSE
GCSE Profile to include Maths with a minimum Grade B/C* or 6/5.
GCSE Profile to include the English Language with a minimum grade C/4.
English Language Requirements
The minimum requirement for this course is Academic IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5. Trinity ISE: Pass at level III also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.
Ulster recognizes a number of other English language tests and comparable IELTS equivalent scores.
