Programme Type:

Course Overview

In this course, you develop the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to recognise associated risks, assess and treat an injury, and implement appropriate rehabilitation programmes for sport, exercise, and health. These include planning, implementing and interpreting pre-participation screening, and identifying predisposing factors to musculoskeletal injury and health. You learn essential skills in specialist sports laboratories, collecting, interpreting and reporting on fitness data. You also have the opportunity to obtain additional vocational awards in fitness instruction (for a small additional fee).

Student-led Clinics
You gain hands-on experience in massage, injury assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation in our specialist sports clinics on campus. You work under direct supervision from our experienced clinical supervisors and gain real-life experience working with staff, students, and alumni of the University. You have the opportunity to put into practice the skills that have been taught during the academic sessions.

Entry Requirement

Academic Requirements:

A typical offer is 88-112 tariff points from at least two A levels (or equivalent) - one should be in a sport, science, or PE subject. You must also have GCSEs in English, maths and science at grade 4 (grade C) or equivalent. We recommend an Access course if you're a mature student.

For entry to Year 0 (Foundation Year), a typical offer is 32-64 tariff points from at least two A levels (or equivalent) and GCSE grade 4 (grade C) or equivalent in English, Maths and Science.

An enhanced criminal history (DBS) check may be required for certain modules or placements which involve working with children and/or adults at risk. Where an enhanced DBS check is required, applicants will cover the cost of these checks which can only be processed through the University.

As a minimum, you would normally need a pass in at least two A levels, or equivalent level 3 qualifications. You may also need GCSE passes at grade 4 (or C) or above, or other levels 2 qualifications.

Students currently studying a Foundation Degree or a Higher National Diploma may be considered for entry to the second or final year of a degree or a top-up degree. It depends on subject content already covered in relation to the degree and on credits achieved.

Higher National Diplomas (HNDs)
As a minimum, you would normally need a pass in at least one A level, or equivalent level 3 qualifications. You may also need GCSE passes at grade 4 (or C) or above, or other levels 2 qualifications.
