Course Overview

Prepare for postgraduate work or for a variety of careers in sociology, including policy development, counseling, social work, and education with our bachelor’s degree in sociology.

The Bachelor of Science in a sociology degree program will challenge you to develop your analytical skills as you learn to apply qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and statistical analysis to identify patterns in the fabric of social psychology.

Including a broad survey of humanities coursework, the sociology major provides extensive coverage of how family, race, gender, and class lead to a composite personal identity.

To qualify for admission into a St. George’s University School of Arts and Sciences undergraduate degree program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Caribbean or British education system students: Five General Proficiency Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC) or ordinary level passes, which should include both English language, mathematics, and at least one science subject (biology or chemistry preferred)
  • North American education model students: Complete 12 years of primary and secondary school education. Applicants are expected to have successfully completed science courses within their last two years of high school.

Students with an associate’s degree, CAPE, the International Baccalaureate, Advanced Levels, or equivalent may request an exemption from coursework.

Students interested in applying to St. George’s University School of Arts and Sciences undergraduate programs must have successfully completed a secondary school or high school education.

St. George’s University seeks students who have successfully completed the following requirements:

  • Caribbean or British Education system students need five General Proficiency CSEC (Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate) or ordinary level passes, which should include both English and Mathematics.
  • North American Education model students and others must successfully complete 12 years of primary and secondary school education.
  • Students with an associate’s degree, CAPE, the International Baccalaureate, Advanced Levels, or equivalent may request an exemption from coursework.
