Course Overview

The Psychology Department is committed to the larger mission of St. Francis College, promoting academic excellence and fostering critical thinking and a commitment to social justice. These values are implemented with sensitivity to and appreciation of intellectual and cultural diversity. The Psychology Department is committed to furthering our understanding of the mind and behavior by the methods of science, and applying the science of psychology to promote human welfare. The Department offers programs combining methodological and theoretical courses with fieldwork that focuses on the development of applied skills. Students learn about the foundations of psychology through a wide array of courses and activities, train for work in applied fields and prepare for advanced study. Alongside the study of the science of psychology, the psychology major offers the general benefits of a liberal arts education, emphasizing the preparation for lifelong learning, critical thinking and responsible action.

Goals & Objectives:

  • Train students for lifelong learning, thinking, and action by providing an education that teaches psychology’s knowledge base, scientific methodology, interpersonal skills and ethics
  • Prepare majors who will enter careers in human services, business, education, and other applied fields to be competent, and caring professionals.
  • Prepare students who will continue their education in an advanced study to be culturally sensitive, well-prepared, and creative graduate students
  • Provide students with coursework and extracurricular activities that enhance their knowledge and appreciation of psychology.
  • Encourage faculty to support and carry out departmental goals in an atmosphere.

Entry Requirement 

Admission Requirements:

  1. Submit your High School transcripts translated into the English language.
  2. If your previous institution was outside the United States, you will be required to have a course-by-course evaluation of your transcript. It is recommended that you use the SpanTran evaluation service 
    • We also accept transcripts that have been evaluated by any credential evaluation service that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
  3. Submit proof of High School completion (diploma)
    • If you are currently still in High School please let us know your expected graduation date
  4. SAT/ACT scores are optional (with the exception of Student-Athletes and Nursing students)
  5. Provide TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, PTE, or ITEP exam results.

Note: This requirement may be waived for students attending International schools.

Undergraduate Commuter Student Fee: $27188

Tuition (12 – 18 credits): $13344 per semester
