Diploma in Higher Education in Hearing Aid Audiology
Hearing aid audiology has grown rapidly as a professional health service in recent years. It’s a rewarding career where you help individuals with hearing loss get the hearing aids they need to improve their everyday quality of life.
On this course you’ll learn how to identify hearing loss in patients, and how to prescribe and fit hearing aids. You’ll gain vital expertise in the rehabilitation and aftercare needed by hearing aid users.
You will study a range of modules each year related to hearing aid audiology. Some of these modules will be delivered on campus to provide you with practical experience in various aspects of audiological assessment and management. To support your learning in the workplace you will have access to a virtual learning environment where you will complete the rest of your modules.
Year One will focus on the basic sciences as well as the clinical procedures involved in hearing aid audiology and the skills needed to work with patients/clients. You will then have an opportunity to practice these skills in your workplace.
Year Two will focus on expanding the skills developed in the first year. You will also be introduced to topics such as aural rehabilitation while developing your knowledge about hearing aids further. This will support the development of related clinical competencies as you work with patients/clients in the workplace.
