Course Overview

What you'll study?

The course has been developed with input from health professionals to ensure you have the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills required to enhance your job prospects. You will have numerous opportunities to practice what you have learned including:

  • dietary and exercise assessment sessions with volunteers (supported by your tutors)
  • designing and delivering healthy eating sessions
  • working in the community to increase physical activity levels
  • practicing your communication skills.

You will concentrate on the roles of physical activity, exercise, and nutrition in the prevention and management of the disease. Crucial topics, such as the public health system and communication skills, are also integrated into this course.

Entry Requirement 

Academic Requirements:

  • A-levels – BBC, including Physical Education or a Science subject* and excluding Critical Thinking and General Studies; or
  • BTEC Extended Diploma** – DMM, including relevant Physical Education or Science modules; or
  • 112 UCAS Tariff points from three A-levels or equivalent qualifications, including an A-level equivalent in Physical Education or a Science subject and excluding Critical Thinking and General Studies; and
  • GCSEs – English, Maths and two sciences grade C/4

English Language Requirements:

If English is not your first language you need to show us that your language skills are strong enough for intensive academic study. We usually ask for an IELTS test and we accept some alternative English language tests.
