The Korean minor will strengthen a student's overall skills in internationalism and provide a focus on one of the world's most important nations.

Program Benefits

The Korean program allows students to acquire a strong working knowledge of the Korean language, culture, and society in order to broaden their horizons and sharpen their awareness of Korea in this era of internationalism and globalization. The program can help prepare students for work in contexts where the language and culture are pertinent, or to live and work in Korea; as informed and capable individuals equipped with appropriate intercultural skills and awareness.

Career Options

Employment may be available with import and export trade organizations, international banking houses, or U.S. companies abroad. An increasing number of domestic and multinational companies are seeking employees who have backgrounds in multicultural studies as a way of dealing with the global market. In addition, an increasing number of students and graduates are going on teaching English in Korea.

Entry Requirement 

Admission Requirements:

High School Transcript (required for current high school students)

High school juniors and seniors: You must provide an official high school transcript to the Admissions Office at the time of your application for admission. A letter of support and recommendation from your high school principal is also required.

ACT or SAT scores (required for current high school students)

High school juniors and seniors: Contact SAT or ACT to arrange for your test score to be sent electronically to the Admissions Office, or if you or the ACT or SAT will mail your test score to the Admissions Office, make sure the original sealed envelope has not been opened. Only sealed envelopes will be accepted.

Application fee

The $30 application fee is payable by mail (check or money order), online (debit or credit card), or in-person (cash, check, money order, debit, or credit card).

Additional Requirements for International Applicants

An international applicant is a foreign student who plans to apply for or is currently in the United States on a non-immigrant student visa. As an international applicant, you are required to fulfill all of the admission requirements and submit all the required documents that domestic applicants do. Additionally, you must demonstrate that you meet eligibility requirements for:

  • Non-immigrant student visa status
  • English language proficiency
