Course Overview

This Geography degree explores key societal, economic and environmental challenges and encourages you to engage with, explore and understand the world. You'll develop a deep understanding of the processes that shape our planet and how they impact on human lives and communities. Alongside this, you'll develop advanced laboratory and GIS skills.

This flexible degree spans the breadth of the discipline. You don’t need to decide between human and physical geography and can tailor your degree to your interests. This enables you to become a specialist in your chosen field, or remain active across the Geographic terrain.

You can select from over 50 Geography modules across our three-year degree course. These range from Cities of the Global South to Glacial Environments and from Global Water Resources to Geopolitics.

You will join a community of geographic researchers whose research has been funded by:

  • Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)
  • Natural Environmental Research Council (NERC)
  • Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)
  • Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC)
  • EU funding
  • The Scottish Government environment agency
  • The UK Government
  • The Environment Agency
  • A range of charities
  • Major industrial organisations
