From: IELTS 4.5 (with a minimum of 4.5 in writing) or equivalent.

Award:

International Foundation Certificate (RQF Level 3) from Manchester Metropolitan University.

Entry Requirement 

English language requirements:

IELTS 4.5 (with a minimum of 4.5 in writing) or equivalent.

Age requirements: 16 years and above

All students commencing courses on a published September start date must be 17 years old by 31 December of that calendar year. For all other start dates, students must be 17 years old by 31 December of the preceding calendar year.

Academic requirements:

Entry requirements additional information:

Guidance for portfolio submission: applicants for this course will need to submit a portfolio.

Portfolio Requirements: at least 6 digital images of previous work, of which 3 should be observational.

Other items that may be submitted include:

  • original photography
  • sketch books
  • original computer-generated imagery
  • photographs of three-dimensional work
  • evidence of sketching which shows the development of own artwork or design
  • annotated work.

Students must also submit a statement of up to 250 words. They should try and include the following subjects:

  • area(s) of Art and Design that interests them
  • why they want to join the programme
  • key influences i.e. other artists or designers that inspire them
  • indication of how much Art and Design training they've already completed
  • which degree they would like to progress to.

Portfolios should either be attached to the application or, if externally hosted, a web link should be provided to the hosting site.

If you have achieved the minimum IELTS score overall but do not have the required score in writing for direct entry, you will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
