Course Overview

You will study, learn and train with leading industry professionals in the heart of London’s cultural quarter working in close proximity to, and with, some of the worlds’ most respected theatres and companies.

As a student of the BA Theatre Production, you will undertake intensive training focusing on the development of key technical and production skills together with the ability to apply these in a series of live, industry-style briefs. But we are not just training technicians who know what buttons to press!  Of course, you’ll be equipped with all the technical skills you need to work successfully in the industry, but you’ll also be able to think creatively and critically, contribute to the artistic process and create your own theatre and design projects. In addition, as you move through the course you will have more and more opportunities to learn about and work with the very latest digital, performance technologies as they are used in the theatre industry of today – and tomorrow!

Your skills work will be applied to a series of professional-style briefs including small, large-scale and touring productions allowing you to showcase your skills regularly throughout the course. During your training you will be also able to develop your professional skills by working with renowned theatre companies and industry who specialise in developing both new and existing works such as our long-term partners Frantic Assembly and the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith.

You will be taught by a team of highly skilled, fully trained technical theatre staff with extensive experience of the theatre industry. You will be working in industry standard facilities. The Edric Theatre and Studios is at the heart of our Southwark campus in SE1 and comprises a mainstage and studio theatre together with a suite of fully equipped, dance-drama rehearsal studios.

However, the learning experience won’t stop there.  You’ll also benefit from the advantages of learning in a wider University environment allowing you to get the best of both worlds. All our students take part in our extensive enhancement programme which involves guest lectures, industry employment symposia, subsidised theatre visits and access to our Associate Artist Programme where selected students will have the opportunity to work with a professional industry mentor.
