Course Overview

It prepares its graduates for direct employment as Automotive engineers and lays the foundation for graduate studies in the field of Automotive engineering.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply a variety of methods, including mathematical analysis, computational modeling, or practical experiments, to solve automotive engineering-related problems.
  2. Use appropriate methods to pursue research or other detailed investigation of technical issues related to the discipline of automotive engineering.
  3. Design solutions to unfamiliar problems, possibly involving other disciplines and their creativity to develop new and original ideas and methods.
  4. Design and conduct analytic, modeling and experimental investigations, to critically evaluate data and draw conclusions
  5. Apply their knowledge and understanding for developing practical skills for solving problems, conducting investigations, and designing engineering devices and processes.
  6. Recognize the wider, non-technical implications of engineering practice, ethical, environmental, commercial, and industrial.
  7. Evaluate the capabilities and limitations of existing and emerging technologies in the field of automotive engineering.
  8. Demonstrate the ability to integrate knowledge from different branches, and handle complexity, and understand applicable techniques and methods, their limitations, and the non-technical implications of engineering practice.
  9. Apply new and emerging technologies related to the field of automotive engineering.
  10. Use diverse methods, such as technical reports and technical presentations to communicate effectively with the engineering community and with society at large.

Entry Requirement 

Admission Requirements:

Candidates for a bachelor's degree program should submit a school leaving certificate from a recognized six-form secondary school (high school) with an average grade of 75% (Greek Cypriot secondary schools) or a grade “C” or its equivalent (other secondary schools), or equivalent qualification. Candidates who submit a six-form secondary school leaving certificate but do not meet the above grade requirements may be admitted on probationary status if they show potential for educational advancement. The probationary status will be removed, subject to satisfactory academic performance. Candidates admitted on probationary status may also be asked to enroll in foundation courses in order to improve their skills and/or to take a reduced load.

Freshman Admission

Refers to candidates who are applying directly from the secondary school and have no previous additional or university education experience.

Transfer Admission

Candidates who have graduated from a recognized six-form secondary school, and have completed university-level work in an accredited program at an institution other than Frederick University, are eligible to apply for transfer admission. Such candidates should, along with their application form, submit the following documents:

  • A six-form secondary school (high school) leaving certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Official transcripts (grade reports) and syllabi (course descriptions) for all University coursework taken to date.

Transcripts are evaluated by the relevant department to determine the number of credits to be transferred in accordance with the Frederick University curriculum requirements and the candidate's academic performance.

Transfer students regardless of the number of credits transferred should complete at least half of the ECTS credits required by the program of study at Frederick University in order to be eligible to graduate. For a 4-year 240 ECTS program, a transfer student must complete a minimum of two years of full-time study (120 ECTS) at Frederick University in order to be eligible to graduate.

English Language Requirements:

Students whose native language is not English will have to take the Frederick University English Placement Test (FUEPT). Students who are qualified for exemption from the English Language Courses should apply to the Center of Languages with the necessary documentation.

Students who are not competent in the English language are required to take special English classes to improve their skills and, when necessary, they will take a reduced load for that semester. Students who may need more vigorous preparation will take an intensive course in English before enrolling in a regular program. Intensive courses commence at the beginning of the fall and the spring semesters.
